Nelly has allegedly found himself facing at least a $2.4 million debt with the IRS, and fans are stepping in to help him pay it off.
#SaveNelly has been passed around social media over the last few days, asking fans to stream the rappers 2002 hit “Hot in Herre” to help earn the star royalties.
According to the Music Steaming Index, each time an artist’s song is played on Spotify, that artist makes between $0.006 and $0.008 cents. That means the song would have to be streamed about 400,000,000 times to cover the $2.4 million debt.
Thanks for all the amazing memories and good times Nelly. I got your back, you deserve it. Stream that Nelly people! #savenelly
