PHOENIX Riverdale star, Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper, has opened up about her experience with a fake Uber driver last Sunday.

PSA: I was just ushered to a car by someone posing to be an airport cab/Uber driver. I got to his car and there were absolutely no signs that he was a professional service driver. So I did NOT get into the car. Please pay attention and make smart decisions out there. Please pay attention and make smart decisions out there, which she shared via Twitter.

Reinhart wanted to encourage her followers to be aware of their surroundings and be careful when it comes to entering a ride share vehicle. Situations like this happen more than you probably think not just to celebrities but every day people.

Uber has gained popularity in recent years with the amount of rides reaching as much as 14 million per dayWith such frequent use, it’s important to remember that not every driver is who they say they are.

Here are some tips to avoid becoming a victim of a fake driver:

  • Before getting into the car, ask the driver to state your name and your destination address.
  • Use the app to check the license plate and make sure it matches the car.
  • Ride in the backseat if you are riding alone. This will help in an emergency exit as you will have two sides to get out.
  • Utilize the Share Status option on the Uber app. Letting a friend know your trip details could save your life.
