This Arizona resort lights its coffee on fire

Talk about a fiery pick-me-up!

La Hacienda, the signature Mexican restaurant at the Scottsdale Fairmont Princess resort in Scottsdale, serves two after-dinner coffee cocktails with an explosive showcase.

Known as "Café de Fuego" on the menu, the cocktail glass is ignited with a bit of Bacardi 151 and the rim is lined with a cinnamon-sugar mixture.

The flame stays in the glass for a brief time until some more cinnamon-sugar is dropped on top which gives the flame effect.

La Hacienda has two versions of the cocktail:

  • The "tradicional" is made with Blanco Tequila and 1921 Crema Tequila. The cost is $19.
  • The "especial" is made with Bailey's Irish Cream and Frangelico. The cost is $20.

As for the coffee, you have a choice of regular or decaf.

The restaurant recently underwent a renovation of its bar, patio and dining room. Last week, ABC15 was invited to a media preview to see the updated look, which is where this cocktail was put on display.
