TEMPE, AZ — Fifteen months after opening, Aaron Chamberlin's Tempe Public Market Cafe -- the sister concept to the Phoenix Public Market Cafe -- will close in May to undergo renovations.
The restaurant, which opened in January 2018 near Rural and Warner roads in Tempe, will close on Monday, May 6, and will remain closed through early June, according to a news release.
David Chamberlin, Aaron's brother and business partner, said the changes were made "with the community in mind."
“We are committed to keeping in line with the look and feel of this close-knit area,” he said in a statement. "When you are relaxing on our patio or if you’re getting a bite with friends and family, we want you to feel like you are at your second home.”
Among the changes: the installation of a projector above the outdoor fireplace to show movies, replacing booths with high-top community tables in the dining room, add more seating to the patio and west side of the building.
Gennaro Garcia, a Phoenix-based artist, will create an indoor and outdoor mural.
The indoor market will be expanded to sell branded merchandise, such as hats, shirts and sauces, and products from other businesses, the release said.
As for the menu, when it reopens, the restaurant will have some new dishes, weekend brunch, and full-service dinner.
