CAMP VERDE, AZ — A 12-year-old porcupine who lived at the Out of Africa Wildlife Park in Camp Verde, Arizona has died, the park announced Wednesday in a Facebook post.

"It is with sad and heavy hearts that we must inform everyone of the passing of Wilbur, the prehensile tail porcupine," the zoo wrote. "He was very loved by all who knew him for his kind and gentle nature and for his love of snacks."

Photos included in the Facebook post showed Wilbur eating a waffle shaped like Mickey Mouse and mini pumpkins.

The Zoo said the porcupine was considered to be an old porcupine. "At some point in the night, his age caught up to him and his heart failed," the post said. "He passed peacefully and will be missed dearly and he will never be forgotten."

Out of Africa is located roughly 90 minutes north of the Valley.
