It's always fun to go out and try the newest restaurants around town.

Ahipoki Bowl – Scottsdale

“Poke” is a popular Hawaiian dish which consists of sushi-grade cut fish either on rice or salad. Ahipoki Bowl is a quick-service choose-your-own “poke” dish. They have tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, shrimp, octopus, along with a variety of sauces and toppings, like seaweed salad, cucumber, masago, jicama.

The Herb Box – Phoenix

With two locations already in Scottsdale, this is the restaurant’s first location in Phoenix. It began in 1995 as a catering company. The newest Herb Box is located at The Colony, a new mixed-use development. It features an innovative take on tried-and-true cuisine, focused on fresh ingredients. It will service breakfast, lunch and dinner during the week with an expanded brunch on weekends.

Sel – Old Town Scottsdale

Executive Chef Branden Levine (formerly Café Monarch) has opened a 100-seat fine dining restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale. Sel, which is a French word that translates to salt or spice in English. The menu is a 4-course prix fixe Contemporary American cuisine, which changes weekly depending on what ingredients are currently available.

Mugsy Dogs Hot Dogs – Gilbert

Mugsy celebrated its Grand Opening over the weekend. They serve a variety of hot dogs beyond the simple catsup and mustard toppings. How does a Mac N’ Cheese Dog sound (Mugsy sauce, Mac N’ Cheese, cheese crackers and bacon bits)? Or the BLT dog (bacon-wrapped deep-fried mugsy dog, mugsy sauce, mayo, lettuce, tomato and bacon bits? What about the name mugsy? Apparently it was the owner’s nickname in high school, according to its website.

Pork on a Fork BBQ – Phoenix

Named one of the best BBQ spots in Phoenix by our ABC15 A-Listers, Pork on a Fork opened its doors over the weekend. This is the restaurant’s second location in the Valley. They serve BBQ sandwiches, salads, burritos, bowls, ribs, pulled chicken, pork and brisket. Yum!

Leoni’s Focaccia – Scottsdale

Leoni’s Focaccia recently opened in Scottsdale. Chef Leoni offers “top-notch Italian meats and the finest cheese available on this side of the Atlantic,” according to its website. The menu has six different sandwiches, all on focaccia, a salad and cookies.

Tasty Grill – Chandler (near Chandler Fashion mall)

Tasty Grill recently opened near Chandler Fashion Center in the spot previously occupied by Johnny Rockets. It offers authentic Lebanese food, including Kabab Koobi (lamb), Shish taook (chicken).
