PHOENIX — Families will have two ways to enjoy the Phoenix Zoo's yearly ZooLights display in 2020: the traditional experience where people walk along the trails, and, new this year, "Cruise ZooLights," a drive-thru experience similar to the zoo's summer "Cruise The Zoo" experience.

ZooLights will also begin earlier than years past.

Members will get the first look on Nov. 4-6, 2020, and it will open to the general public on Nov. 7, 2020 and run through Jan. 31, 2020. The drive-thru experience is available on select dates throughout November and December. A color-coded calendar is available on the zoo's website, www.phoenixzoo.org/events/zoolights.

"I think everybody right now is looking for something to celebrate. Typically we start celebrating Zoo Lights the night before Thanksgiving. But, we said, ya know, let’s start the beginning of November," Linda Hardwick, spokesperson for the Phoenix Zoo, told ABC15 earlier this month.

The zoo itself will close at 3 p.m. each day to prepare for ZooLights, according to the zoo's website.

Admission for the traditional walk-through experience is $16 for members (individual tickets) and $20 for non-members. The drive-thru experience is $60 for members (per vehicle) and $75 for non-members. Tickets went on sale on Thursday, Oct. 1. More information.

No matter which experience you choose, people will be able to see millions of lights around the zoo, more than 60 lighted animal lanterns, meet Jengo and Tortuga, and view the new "Polar Paradise" display on the Outer Tropics Trail, according to the website.

The popular "Music in Motion" light show will only be visible during the walk-through experience.
