FD: Hiker rescued after falling 25 feet while free-climbing Papago Peak

PHOENIX — A hiker fell 25 feet while free-climbing Papago Peak Monday afternoon.

According to an official from the Phoenix Fire Department, firefighters responded to reports of an injured hiker shortly after noon.

Crews located the hiker and rescued him from the gully he fell into.

According to fire officials, the man was not fully conscious and suffered injuries to his head and right arm.

Firefighters carried the man down the mountain, and transported him to a local trauma facility.

Officials say the man was in stable condition but will require further evaluation.
