ABC15 is taking action with a new warning from postal inspectors about thieves that are targeting your mail.

In one case, inspectors say a man has targeted an area near 35th Avenue and Fillmore Street, stealing checks, and then altering them, all so he can deposit them as his own cash.

In another case, an investigative lead has been photographed cashing a stolen check that was swiped from a mailbox near 16th and Oak streets in Phoenix. Investigators say she's between 30-40 years old, has dark hair, and a tattoo on her right forearm that says "Alexis" or "Alexia."

But it's not just money these thieves are after. Last year alone, the federal government estimates 400,000 Americans had their mail and their identities stolen.
