Authorities say a man has been arrested in Mesa after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and pointing a gun at her and her baby.

Maricopa County Sheriff's officials say 25-year-old Arturo Camacho Jr. surrendered to deputies without incident about 6 p.m. Thursday.

They say Camacho has been booked into jail for suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault and possible child abuse.

Authorities say Camacho is accused of pointing a handgun at Jessica Aguirre and her 1-year-old daughter, kicking and hitting the woman and threatening to kill her if she left the home.

Aguirre ran from the house with her child when Camacho fell asleep.

A SWAT team surrounded the home and Camacho was found hiding in a trailer next door to the home.

It's unclear if Camacho has a lawyer.
