PD: Man fires at vehicle on Interstate 10

A man is in custody after a shooting on Interstate 10 on Sunday morning.

The incident happened at the Stack on westbound Interstate 10 at Interstate 17.

According to Phoenix police, victims told officers they were driving on Interstate 10 when they passed a man and woman who were standing in the median.

The man allegedly pointed a gun at the woman and as the victims drove by them, the suspect apparently fired his weapon.

According to police, the bullet struck the windshield of the victim’s vehicle. The victims called 911 and continued down the road and contacted police.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety and Phoenix police responded to the scene. DPS Troopers were able to locate the suspect on the freeway.

The woman involved in the incident has not been found. Officers are searching for her as a possible victim and witness.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

This is the second freeway shooting in Phoenix this week. A  49-year-old woman was shot and killed on Wednesday night while traveling on State Route 51.
