Court paperwork shows new details in the attack of two teenage women in Tempe.

Tempe police say the women, who are both 20 years old and from out of town, left a bar on Mill Avenue early Sunday morning June 19, with 25-year-old Phillip Escobedo, who invited them to the pool of the Mission Palms hotel, near the intersection of Mill Avenue and Fifth Street.

The women were severely beaten, one spending two days in the hospital with a broken jaw, broken bones around her left eye and cuts to her legs, hip and knees.

The other women had injuries to her mouth and nose and both eyes were swollen shut.

The first woman was found about 3 a.m., when a passerby reported a woman walking around looking disoriented.

The second woman was found three hours later, unconscious.

The second victim had items stolen from her, including her cell phone and debit cards. Police 'pinged' the phone and tracked it to a nearby vacant building, where Escobedo was found. Police report Escobedo was in possession of the debit card with the victim's name on it.

Police say that Escobedo also had a swollen right hand and cuts on his knuckles. Surveillance video also placed Escobedo at the pool, and at the time the assaults occurred.

Escobedo has denied his involvement in the assaults.Hhe's been charged with assault, aggravated assault and credit card theft.
