It's a new month, and that means new deals... If you know what to buy.

You can save by knowing what to buy and what to avoid this month.

August is a great time to buy summer clothes, including swim suits ... Even though summer is on its way out.

And since we generally can wear summer clothes until nearly October, take advantage of the clearance sales.

It’s the same scenario with shoes.

The deals this month are better than last and expect even more next month.

And with college kids going back to school we can all get excited about the savings.

You'll find lots of deals on things like linens.

Macy’s has 3-piece comforter sets for $19.99. They also have cookware at 50% off.

And it's off-peak time for hotels in the Valley so prices have been down all summer.

But you'll see even more this month.

Check this out; the Scottsdale Plaza Resort is having a pool party with live music from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday.

That's free.

But if you want to make it a staycation, the price is right... Just $79 per night with no resort fee.

Don't assume because you see a sale sign that you're getting a bargain.

If you’re thinking of buying an iPhone or iPad this month, don’t expect to get the best savings.

According to dealnews.com, Apple traditionally unveils new iPhones and iPads in September and October, meaning whatever you buy today will be cheaper in the weeks to come.

You may also want to avoid buying TV’s this month if you want the best bargains.

I know it’s hard; we all want to watch the football games in style. But even though the prices aren’t bad this month, September tends to be even better for deals.
