Police say a man is in custody after allegedly burglarizing retirement communities in Mesa

Ryan Donohue, 49, was arrested Wednesday and charged with burglary, trafficking stolen property and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to a Mesa police spokesperson, Donohue allegedly burglarized a home in a retirement community on May 23 while the resident was at a tennis match.

The suspect was seen in the home stealing jewelry, which was later recovered in a public restroom, police said.

Donohue is suspected in multiple other burglaries in retirement communities. Police say it’s believed Donohue was posing as either a contractor or a future tenant.
