Woman rescued from trash truck near 23rd Avenue and Peoria

A woman had to be rescued from a trash truck in Phoenix on Monday morning.

Phoenix fire said a woman was sleeping in a dumpster near 23rd and Peoria avenues when a Waste Management truck stopped to pick up trash. 

Trash truck employees called 911 after hearing the woman in their truck. 

Phoenix firefighters were able to get the woman out of the truck. She was transported to the hospital with extremely serious injuries. 

Officials said the woman's boyfriend was also in the dumpster, but he was able to get out before getting dumped into the truck and left the scene.
