A puppy that was reportedly stolen from the Arizona Animal Welfare League Sunday afternoon was returned on Monday.

According to an agency that represents the organization, around 1:15 p.m., two men were seen on surveillance video stealing the puppy from the shelter near 40th and Washington streets in Phoenix.

The puppy, a female mixed-breed dog, was reportedly on daily medication and had been being monitored by the shelter's medical team.

The President of the Arizona Animal Welfare League said in a release that if the puppy was returned unharmed, they would not press charges.

Michael Morefield, AAWL director of marketing and communications, issued the following statement:

"One of the men in the security footage saw the news stories and immediately called the shelter. This puppy was returned safe and sound due to the community support. Thank you for your help collecting the facts, sharing the story and making this happen."
