An armed man allegedly plowed through a Phoenix elementary school's fence and tried to hide his gun afterward.

Phoenix police report that on June 17 they responded to PT Coe Elementary School near 35th Avenue and Thomas Road.

A witness told police that a car ran through a fence and continued into the schoolyard, court paperwork said.

Officers found 25-year-old Julian Isax Cruz Arredondo on school grounds behind the fences.

When confronted by police, Arredondo reportedly grabbed something out of his pocket and flung it to the ground. Officers allegedly heard a "clanking sound"; like metal hitting concrete.

Police arrested Arredondo, who allegedly told them that the car belonged to a friend who was driving, court paperwork said. However, police say the cars keys were found in Arredondo's pocket.

Police identified the object tossed aside by Arredondo as a small handgun, which was reported stolen out of Phoenix.

Arredondo has been charged with weapons misconduct.
