Dinosaurs in the Desert: They move. They make sounds. About the only thing they won't do is bite you. Dinosaurs In the Desert at the Phoenix Zoo. Featuring some of the most lifelike animatronic dinosaurs you've ever seen, a fossil dig for kids, photo-ops and much more. This exhibit is a self-guided experience along the Zoo's Desert Lives Trail. Members $4, general public $5. October 6th through April 30th. Phoenix Zoo, 455 N. Archaeology for Kids: Children ages 7 to 12 can become a Junior Archaeologist and discover the science of archaeology by doing a simulated excavation of a Hohokam pit house.
