‘Riverdale’ & ‘Nancy Drew’-worthy diners in Phoenix

and last updated

The classic diner is a staple in American history and plays a big role in two CW shows, as well as Phoenix fine dining.

Pop’s Diner is the headquarters for Riverdale’s leading foursome. Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge and Archie Andrews always circle back to Pop’s booth for burgers and milkshakes … and plotting.

In The CW’s new series Nancy Drew, the lead, Nancy Drew (obvi) works for a diner, The Claw. No surprise here, the first murder of the series happens just outside The Claw.

To help put you in the right mindset for season four of Riverdale and the series premiere of Nancy Drew, here’s a list of noteworthy diners in Phoenix:

Welcome Diner

Even after moving from its original location, Welcome Diner is a Downtown Phoenix staple. To those hippies and Instagram “influencers” who frequented, Welcome Diner will always represent the community of Roosevelt Row. The diner has always supported local causes and deserves your money and your Insta story mention.

Handlebar Diner

New to Mesa, Ariz., Handlebar Diner is farm to table and impresses with a 50s-style aesthetic and outdoor seating. At first glance you might mistake it for Riverdale’s Pop’s Diner, and you might just want to pull up in your ’53 Chevy Bel Air for a milkshake and a slice of good ole America.

Diner 50

Central Phoenix has a way of producing great food from unsuspecting sources. Diner 50 adds a twist to traditional diner food with hot wings and Garlic Cajun Shrimp, among others. With their motto “Eat Retro” we’re pretty sure Diner 50 will have you coming back for more.

Season four of Riverdale and the series premiere of Nancy Drew premiere on Wednesday, October 9, on YourPHX CW.
