Arizona fugitive on the run for 14 years arrested in Mexico

TUCSON, AZ - Federal authorities say an Arizona fugitive who's been on the run for 14 years has been arrested in Mexico and returned to the United States.

U.S. Marshals Service officials say 60-year-old Norman Burt Beverly was taken into custody Tuesday night in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.

He was deported Wednesday and booked into the Los Angeles County jail awaiting a transfer to Arizona to face charges.

Authorities say Beverly was wanted for failure to appear on charges of sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 15.

They say he allegedly sexually molested two 15-year-old victims from October 1999 through April 2000 in Tucson.

Beverly was arrested in March 2001. A month later, a bench warrant was issued for Beverly's arrest after he failed to appear in Pima County Superior Court.
