A 22-year-old man died at the hospital after wrecking his car in Buckeye Monday morning.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said Miguel Gutierres reportedly veered off the road as he was traveling north on Jackrabbit Trail from Baseline Road.

His vehicle struck fences and a canal bank after leaving the roadway.

Gutierres was taken to West Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead, MCSO says.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, but officials say Gutierres' blood alcohol level was over two times the legal limit at the time of his death.

Jackrabbit and Baseline were closed for some time following the incident, but reopened around 8:35 a.m.
