A 16-year-old girl has died after being struck by a vehicle while on a bicycle.

The Buckeye Police Department responded on scene Wednesday to the area of Yuma and Tuthill Roads on reports of a vehicle versus bicycle collision.

The juvenile on the bicycle sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. She was a resident of Goodyear.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Buckeye resident, remained on scene after the crash and cooperated with investigators.

Initial reports indicate the bicyclist was riding along the roadway when she was struck.

Police are investigating the collision and say impairment was not a factor.
