A man is in custody after leading officers on an overnight pursuit.
Tempe police said officers attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle. The driver, 44-year-old Carl Sommer, pointed a gun out the window towards officers attempting to stop the vehicle.
According to police, Sommer did not stop and a pursuit started. Mesa police air unit was able to assist Tempe police to keep an eye on the vehicle.
The suspect eventually ran from his vehicle at Pecos Park in Ahwatukee and was taken into custody.
Sommer was booked into jail for theft of means, aggravated assault and felony flight.
