Mesa police investigating separate homicides, no arrests made

Officers from the Mesa Police Department are investigating two separate and unrelated homicides. 

1st incident

At 8 p.m. on Thursday officers responded to a possible shooting call near Southern Avenue and Mesa Drive and found a 31-year-old man, later identified as Jorge Alcantar, dead at the scene. 

Police also located a 45-year-old woman who was injured. She was treated for her injuries and later released. 

The suspect is an adult man, he is still at large at this time, according to police. Officers are actively pursuing this man. 

Police believe the victims and suspect knew one another. 

2nd incident

Mesa police responded to a report of an assault at 3:30 a.m. on Friday near Southern Avenue and Stapley Drive and found a 20-year-old man dead at the scene. 

Friday evening the victim was identified as Cristian Camarena.

No suspect(s) were located but police say details about a possible suspect are being investigated.
