A Mesa man is accused of asking a “teenage girl” for sex in exchange for cash.

Earlier this month, 24-year-old Martin Andres Martinez is accused of downloading a social media app and talking to who he believed was a 15-year-old girl, according to court documents.

During their conversations, Martinez allegedly told the girl on several occasions that he would pay her $80 to have sex with him, court paperwork said.

Martinez is also accused of telling the person he was 17 years old.

On Monday evening the suspect went to a Chandler location to meet with the "teenager." Instead, he was confronted by authorities and taken into custody.

Martinez had a cell phone, condoms and $65 on his person at the time of his arrest.

He is charged with prostitution with a minor, unlawful age representative and luring a minor for sexual exploits.
