A medical response for a possibly sick person quickly turned into a police shootout leading to a suspect’s death, as shown by newly-released audio and video.

A 911 caller alerted authorities on June 1 of last year to someone lying on a sidewalk at a strip mall at 75th Avenue and McDowell Road.

The caller told a dispatcher that the man was “foaming at the mouth.”

Evidence now shows that the suspect was wearing a holster under his shirt.  Firefighters drove by the man, without stopping, after learning he had a gun.

Police arrived on scene, spotted the man’s gun, and took cover.

A fire fight led to the man’s death, according to police.  No officers were hurt.
