Phoenix police took four juveniles into custody after an overnight joyride in a stolen vehicle.
Officials say around 2 a.m. on Friday, officers spotted a stolen truck pass them at a high rate of speed in the area of 17th Avenue and Van Buren Street. Ground units responded and attempted to stop the truck; however, the police helicopter took over following the vehicle due to excessive speed.
Police say the vehicle reached speeds of at least 80 miles per hour at times.
The helicopter followed the truck to the area of 41st Avenue and Encanto Blvd., where the four occupants of the vehicle bailed out and fled on foot.
After a short search, all four juveniles, ranging in age from 12 to 16 years of age, were taken into custody without incident.
It was not immediately known where the juveniles obtained the stolen vehicle. There were no reported injuries.
