Twenty-five-year-old Mario Cholak was shot and killed during a card game Thursday night near 32nd Street and Cactus Road, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officials said the victim was found by paramedics and police with a gunshot wound to the stomach shortly before 8 p.m. following a call about an armed robbery at a hookah lounge, which was closed at the time.

The victim was taken to a hospital but didn't survive, according to police.

Police say the suspects are described as black men in their 20s; one was wearing a black shirt and the other was wearing a white shirt at the time of the shooting. One of the men was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun.

A second victim was forced to the ground and had guns and drugs stolen from him before the suspects fled the scene.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Phoenix police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
