Southwest Human Development and McDonald's are teaming up on Saturday, Dia De Los Ninos, to promote early literacy for children around Arizona.

Starting at 11 a.m. at McDonald's locations around Phoenix and in northern Arizona, the first 100 parents to visit with get one of four 2016 Happy Meal books and a free vanilla ice cream cone or apple slices.

Twenty thousand books are expected to be handed out to families on Saturday.

For everyone who buys a Happy Meal on Saturday, 20 cents will go to Southwest Human Development to help fund literacy programs that help kids prepare for school.

"There's only one book for every 300 kids in low-income neighborhoods, and we're looking to change that," Jake Adams, chief development officer of Southwest Human Development, said in a media release. "We are thrilled McDonald's is raising awareness of the importance of early reading with this event and able to help meet a critical need for many Arizona families."

Walmart McDonald's locations are not included in the promotion.
