Detectives are investigating after a Phoenix police officer was the victim of a drive-by shooting that happened just after midnight on Saturday.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, a motor officer was trying to stop a white Chrysler 300 near 35th Avenue and Butler Drive when someone inside the Chrysler opened fire once at the officer. After firing a shot, the vehicle fled east on Butler Drive.
Moments later, officers found the Chrysler, which had crashed into a wall at the Black Canyon Freeway access road located just south of Butler Drive and north of Northern Avenue. The vehicle was abandoned, and officials later determined it was a stolen vehicle.
Although a search was conducted in the area for the suspect(s), no one was located. Police say the motor officer was not injured.
