Phoenix police are looking for a carjacking suspect after he crashed a stolen car and ran away.

Wednesday night, officers responded to a report of a robbery at Hermosa Park near 20th Street and Southern Avenue.

When they arrived, the victim told police his car and cell phone had been taken by two young black men, believed to be teenagers, both wearing hoodies.

The park was busy with skaters at the time who say they heard an argument in the parking lot and then gun shots.

“I heard gun shots and looked back and saw everybody running so me and my friends ran. Then the car went to the corner and they started shooting more,” said skateboarder Jared Moreno.

Within a few minutes of that call, police got a call of a crash near 18th Street and Southern Avenue.

Police say the suspects lost control of the stolen vehicle, collided with a couple of fences and came to rest next to a house.

The passenger of the stolen vehicle was hurt so badly he was still inside when police came. He was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the second suspect, who was behind the wheel, is still outstanding.
