Two Valley sisters are in a friendly political feud after being chosen as Democratic National Convention delegates for competing candidates.

Rosie Lopez, 77, is a Bernie Sanders delegate. Esther Duran Lumm, 71, is a Hillary Clinton delegate.

The women have been political activists for decades, and they showed ABC15 their photos dating back to Cesar Chavez civil rights marches.

Lopez attended national conventions in the past. Lumm is going to her first one. Two weeks ago, Arizona Democratic Party members voted for the sisters to become two of the 75 delegates to their national convention.

"Here we were the two of us jumping up and down afterwards," Lopez said.

Within an hour or two, the political feud fired up at dinner.

"We were arguing there right over the table at Rositas over who had the better candidate," Lumm said.

"[Sanders]’s done a lot of good things in the Congress, which shows he's a doer,” Lopez said.

“In foreign relations, [Clinton] makes me feel a little more confident with pushing that button,” Lumm said.

At the convention in Philadelphia, the sisters will split into separate camps. Their votes will cancel each other out.

“I think if it wasn't for the super delegates, I think Bernie would have probably been way ahead,” Lopez said.

Lumm says if Clinton wins the nomination she won't gloat to her sister.

“I'll console her,” Lumm said. “I'll feel bad for her. I may even take her to lunch.”
