A man from Mesa used a machete to attack the car driven by his sister's boyfriend.

Mesa police report that on May 21, a man dropped off his girlfriend at her home so she could get some clothes. When she came out of the house and started walking toward her boyfriend's car, she noticed her brother, 21-year-old Liodio Nava Miron, was following her with a machete in his hand.

She called her boyfriend to warn him as Miron approached the front of the car. The victim told police that he pulled out a handgun to protect himself, but was able to drive away.

Police say Miron chased the car and hit the trunk with the machete, causing damage to the car.

Police arrested Miron at the home near Horne Street and Brown Road. He allegedly admitted to police that he hit the car with the machete saying he wanted to scare off the boyfriend because his family "has issues with him."

Miron was arrested for criminal damage and aggravated assault.
