Ticoz Latin Kitchen will close its doors at the end of the month after more than a decade in business.

The restaurant's last day will be Sunday, July 30.

Owner Joe Wilson said competition from nearby restaurants and the rising cost of rent in the area have forced him to close. Ticoz is in a shopping center along 7th Street north of Camelback Road.

"There is only so much of a pie you can split up," he said in an interview with ABC15. "We stand out, obviously not enough."

Despite that, he is optimistic and looking forward to reopening the restaurant in a less competitive area. He would like to stay in Phoenix, but is open to other areas, he said.

The lease for the restaurant was signed in 2006 and he bought the restaurant from the original owners in 2010.

Wilson said another restaurant would be renovating and moving into the space.
