Sports fans attending University of Arizona home games will no longer be allowed to bring most bags inside athletic venues.

The university announced Wednesday that starting Dec. 9 at the men's basketball came against Fresno State, fans will have to open their jackets and remove their hats before security searches while entering the arena.

Only clear plastic bags will be allowed in the venue.

University officials say the increased security is in light of recent international events.

According to a statement on the UA Athletics website, there is no credible threat against the university, but they are choosing to stay vigilant.

Diaper bags, camera bags, computer bags, backpacks, fanny packs, briefcases and large seat cushions that have covers, zippers, pockets or compartments are now banned from sporting events.
