Arizona Cardinals right guard and two-time Pro Bowler Evan Mathis has been ruled out of Sunday's game at the Buffalo Bills, coach Bruce Arians announced Friday.

Mathis suffered a foot sprain during the Cardinals' regular-season opener vs. the New England Patriots. He played through the injury last week but apparently suffered a setback this week.

Fourth-year pro Earl Watford will start in Mathis' place, Arians said.

Mathis, who won a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos last season, signed a 1-year, $6 million deal with the Cardinals in March.

In other Cardinals injury news, linebacker Kareem Martin and defensive tackle Frostee Rucker are both doubtful for Sunday's game with knee injuries. Defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche (ankle) and cornerback Justin Bethel (foot) are questionable.
