2012 goes down as 2nd warmest year on record in Phoenix

The statistics are in and 2012 will go down as the second warmest year on record in Phoenix.

The warmest ever was 1989 with an average high temperature of 89.7 degrees.  2012's average high was about a degree cooler at 88.6 degrees.

Our average low temperature of 64.7 degrees ranked the third warmest and our overall average temperature of 76.7 degrees ranked second warmest.

We set more than a dozen record high temperatures, but no record low temperatures.

It was also another dry year for us with only 4.28 inches of rain (that's about 3.75 inches below normal).  That ranked 2012 as the 15 th driest on record.
