The Loop 101 widening project in Scottsdale is nearly complete, but crews have to shutdown the northbound lanes of Loop 101 between Chaparral Road and Shea Boulevard this weekend for some final lane striping work. The Arizona Department of Transportation says drivers should consider alternate routes and allow extra travel time while the following Phoenix-area freeway restrictions are in place this weekend:

Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Chaparral Road and Shea Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 24) for final lane striping and other work, including bridge-joint improvements. DETOUR: Consider alternate freeway routes, including westbound Loop 202 WB (Red Mountain Freeway) to northbound State Route 51. Northbound Interstate 17 is another option. Expect heavy traffic on local detour route. Traffic exiting northbound Loop 101 at Chaparral Road will detour west and can use northbound Pima or Hayden roads to travel beyond freeway closure. Note: Football fans in East Valley traveling to Sunday’s Cardinals-Seahawks game should consider other freeway routes, including westbound I-10, due to Loop 101 closure.

Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane in areas between Verrado Way and State Route 85 from 10 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 23) for resurfacing. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes, including westbound Yuma or Broadway roads or Southern Avenue to northbound SR 85, to travel beyond I-10 restrictions. Note: Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Miller Road closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 22).

Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed between Gilbert and Higley roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 22) for installation of overhead message signs and traffic-flow sensors. DETOUR: Consider using eastbound Pecos or Germann roads to northbound Val Vista Drive and using eastbound Williams Field Road and northbound Higley Road to access Loop 202.

State Route 347 narrowed to one lane in each direction in areas between Riggs and Casa Blanca roads, north of Maricopa, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 22) for pavement-improvement work. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.

Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) connection to westbound Pecos Road closed at Interstate 10 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 23) for overhead power line work. Both I-10 ramps to westbound Pecos Road also closed. Eastbound Pecos Road closed at 40th Street. DETOUR: Alternate routes include exiting westbound Loop 202 to northbound Kyrene Road and using westbound Chandler Boulevard to southbound 40th Street.

Westbound Interstate 10 ramp to northbound Loop 303 closed from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 22) for overhead-ramp construction. DETOUR: Drivers can exit westbound I-10 to northbound Sarival Avenue and use westbound McDowell Road and northbound Cotton Lane to access northbound Loop 303 via on-ramp at Thomas Road.

Eastbound Interstate 10 ramp to northbound I-17 at the “Stack” interchange closed overnight from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 22) for bridge work. DETOUR: Consider exiting eastbound I-10 to northbound 27th Avenue and using eastbound McDowell Road to access northbound I-17.
