No one should be judged by their worst day, but for Vanderbilt junior Matthew Fisher-Davis, this moment will be hard to shake for the rest of his life.
In Thursday's first-round NCAA Tournament matchup between No. 9 seed Vanderbilt and No. 8 seed Northwestern in Salt Lake City, Vandy took the lead with a layup with 17 seconds to play. But just three seconds later, Fisher-Davis inexplicably (and intentionally) fouled Northwestern's Bryant McIntosh, sending McIntosh to the free-throw line.
McIntosh made both free throws, and a late 3-point attempt for Vanderbilt was off the mark, as Northwestern held on for the win.

It was a special moment for Northwestern, which won its first-ever NCAA Tournament game, and for Julia Louis-Dreyfus, whose son plays for the Wildcats.

But for Fisher-Davis and the Commodores, March 16, 2017 will go down as a day which will live in infamy.
"I didn't know the score, to be honest... Saw Coach (Bryce) Drew point at my man, he was just telling me my matchup, and I got it confused with the foul. That was it," Fisher-Davis told ESPN after the game.
