The Chandler Catanzaro era appears to be over in the desert.

The Arizona Cardinals have apparently decided make a change at the placekicker position heading into the 2017 season, as the team has agreed to a contract with veteran Phil Dawson, ESPN reported Thursday.

The 42-year-old Dawson has played 18 seasons in the NFL. He spent his first 14 seasons with the Cleveland Browns and has played for the 49ers for the last four years.

Dawson's 404 made field goals and 84.5 percent accuracy rate are 10th and 11th, respectively, in NFL history. He made 18 of 21 field-goal attempts and converted 33 of 34 extra-point attempts last season.

The news came the same day the Cardinals reportedly declined to re-sign Catanzaro, who missed as many field goals last season (seven) as he did in his first two NFL seasons. The 26-year-old missed a pair of game-winning field goals in 2016, and his missed four extra-point attempts.
