Mesa school gets $5,000 from Phoenix Suns, CenturyLink to replace stolen basketball equipment

MESA, AZ - The Phoenix Suns and CenturyLink donated $5,000 to a Mesa High School Monday to replace basketball equipment that was stolen last year.

Westwood High School received the donation at a school assembly Monday morning as part of the "Team Assist" program by the Suns and CenturyLink.

The school was selected based on their dedication to the community, volunteer work and their need for replacement equipment after theirs was stolen prior to the 2012-13 season.

The donation will be split between the boys and girls basketball programs.

Present at the assembly was CenturyLink Vice President and General Manager Ken McMahon, Suns broadcasters Tim Kempton and Tom Leander, Suns dancers and "The Gorilla" mascot.
