Thousands of ASU football fans were delayed in getting to their seats for the Sun Devils' season opener vs. UTSA last weekend.

The Sun Devils have offered tips to ensure the same thing won't happen this Saturday when the Devils host No. 15 Michigan State.

Several factors led to a large number of fans being unable to enter Sun Devil Stadium in time for last Saturday's 7:30 p.m. kickoff, ASU told ABC15.

-The Sun Devil student section is now located entirely on the south side of the stadium, and students now have the ability to download their tickets directly to their phones. The problem: Many students failed to properly download their tickets ahead of time last weekend, leading to backups at the entrance gates. ASU is reminding students this week to ensure their tickets are downloaded and available for scan right away.

-With most of last weekend's backup occurring on the south side of the stadium, ASU is encouraging fans who park an equal amount of distance between the south and north gates to choose to enter through the north side of the stadium instead.

-ASU says its new security measures were not a major factor in last weekend's delays, but it will add additional magnetometers to the south side of the stadium this Saturday.

But ASU reminds fans that there's no substitute for arriving and entering the stadium a bit early.

Just over 50,000 fans attended last weekend's game, but at least 55,000 are expected for the Michigan State matchup. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:50 p.m., and gates will open at 6 p.m. Those with a parking pass can park at designated lots beginning at 2:45 p.m., and cash lots will open at 4:15 p.m.

If you don't want to drive to the game, Lyft is offering a 20 percent discount to all ASU football games this season with the promo code ASUGAMEDAY.

Also: Saturday's game is a Blackout at Sun Devil Stadium, and as such, ASU fans are asked to wear black to the game.
