Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns was carted off the field after suffering a severe leg injury in the first quarter of the Cowboys' Wild Card game against the visiting Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

The injury occurred on a tackle after Hurns caught a pass midway through the first quarter with the Cowboys leading 3-0. Hurns suffered a dislocated ankle and broken fibula, and was sent to a nearby hospital immediately after the injury to undergo surgery.

The 27-year-old Hurns is in his first season with the Cowboys after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had 20 catches for 295 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season.

"I'll be good to go by the beginning of the season," Hurns told NFL Network's Jane Slater after undergoing successful surgery.

The Cowboys won the game 24-22 to advance to the NFC Divisional Playoff round.
