Here's a good reason to look up to the skies Monday night: the Orionids meteor shower is expected to peak overnight into Tuesday morning.
According to the American Meteor Society,15-20 meteors per hour are expected at the peak time on Tuesday, October 22.
"As is standard for most meteor showers, the best time to watch this shower will be between the hours of midnight and dawn – regardless of your time zone," American Meteor Society says.
The American Meteor Society says remnants from this meteor shower come from Halley’s Comet.
We are expecting clear skies across Arizona during the meteor shower, which will make for perfect viewing conditions.
However, at nearly 40 percent visibility the moon will be bright, making it a little difficult to see the meteors. The moon rises at 12:17 a.m. and doesn’t set until Tuesday afternoon.
Valley temperatures will be dropping into the 50s and 60s by Tuesday morning, so make sure you grab a sweater before heading outside to look for meteors.
If you miss tonight's light show, the American Meteor Society says the Geminids meteor shower, which is usually the most active, is set to happen in mid-December.
