Two New Mexico men are behind bars after deputies from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office allegedly located five pounds of methamphetamine stored inside a Pop-Tarts box within their car.

Authorities say on May 31 35-year-old Eduardo Villalobos-Pizarro and his passenger, 39-year-old Edger Rivera-Prieto, were pulled over for speeding on Interstate 17 near Highway 169.

After speaking with Villalobos-Pizarro, a deputy noticed he started to become nervous and suspected the duo could be concealing contraband.

The deputy received consent to search inside the vehicle and found a plastic bundle on the back floorboard that contained more than a pound of methamphetamine.

After the truck was impounded authorities conducted an additional search and found five pounds of packaged meth inside a Pop-Tarts container in the rear passenger compartment.

Both were booked into jail on various charges including possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and transportation-sale of dangerous drugs.

The two remain in custody each on a $150,000 bond.
