A Peoria man is asking for the community’s help after his home was burglarized and several personal items were taken.

On Sept. 11 an unknown man broke into a home near 114th and Olive avenues. The homeowner, Robert Smith, says his neighbor caught the suspect on video surveillance.

The person stole multiple items from inside including a handgun, 10 watches and a jewelry box with his high school class ring.

"I still feel violated," Smith explained. "I still feel disgusted knowing that someone — I have no idea who it was — was in my home."

The man was seen wearing a red hat, black T-shirt, red gym shorts and Reebok shoes. The man was driving an older-style silver Honda with tinted windows.

"Not knowing who was in your house and knowing the landscape — them knowing the landscape and where everything is laid out is the worst feeling in the world," Smith said.
