Glendale PD: Suspects, Joseph Meddenhall and Katlyn Munger, caught in Valley-wide gym burglaries

GLENDALE, AZ - Two people suspected of robbing lockers at several health and fitness clubs around the Valley are now in police custody.

Sgt. Jay O'Neill of the Glendale Police Department said 27-year-old Katlyn Munger and 26-year-old Joseph Meddenhall confessed to breaking into lockers, stealing purses and car keys at least 20 times at several health clubs throughout the Valley, including Phoenix, Peoria and Glendale.

Multiple police departments across the Valley have been collaborating to identify possible suspects in the string of burglaries, even releasing images hoping the public may offer some leads.

O'Neill said in an undercover operation, detectives were able to observe both suspects at a local gym burglarize the facility.

The investigation showed Munger break into a locker, steal a victim's purse and meet Meddenhall outside. The suspects then used the victim's keys to break into the victim's car.

The investigation also revealed Munger used the victim's credit card at a local Phoenix grocery store.

Both Munger and Meddenhall were arrested in Phoenix, said O'Neill. Meddenhall had a handgun in his possession at the time of his arrest. It was later revealed that he was armed during the burglary of a Phoenix health club.

Officers found several stolen items, including a "large container" of keys and cut padlocks, at a residence connected to the two suspects.

O'Neill said both suspects confessed to their crimes and have been charged with multiple Felony counts of burglary connected to at least 20 cases across the Valley.

More charges are possible.
