Storms in the West Valley on Tuesday produced an unusual sight: at least three columns of swirling dust moving at the same time.

Video taken by Derek Rohrbeck showed one large gustnado and two or three smaller ones all near Glendale Avenue and El Mirage Road. Watch video of the columns in the player above.

According to the National Weather Service, the columns are gustnados, as opposed to landspouts, dust devils or tornados. In a gustnado, the column forms on the ground and rotates up--the opposite of tornados.

Storms in the West Valley prompted a severe thunderstorm warning, as wind gusts of 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail was possible.
