Monsoon storm flood waters turned deadly in Laveen Monday night after nearly three feet of water came rushing onto the property of Lonna and Doug Baccus near 19th Avenue and Dobbins Road.

"We had water running in the back door to the front door and the water in the front coming in, so it had nowhere to go but the front room and throughout the house," they said.

The flood water not only destroyed their home -- two pigs the family had raised since birth, which were described by them as "children", drowned in the flood waters.

One of their horses also had to be rescued off the property and brought to higher ground.

As the family continues to clean up and grieve, friends and neighbors who arrived to help clean up have also set up a GoFundMe page for them. They're asking for: "Drywall, insulation, flooring, fencing, grading, cabinetry, and so much more," with a set goal of $8,000.

The Baccus family says they have lived at their Laveen home for almost 20 years and said they've never seen it as bad as Monday night's monsoon storm.
