A family took action after men scared their kids in the park and now Goodyear police have arrested the three suspects for vehicle theft.

Janel Stier said her daughters, ages 8 and 11, were playing in a community park near the I-10 and Cotton lane Monday afternoon. She said two men and a woman were in a pickup nearby when one of the men approached the kids and asked if they had seen his "weed."

"Our two girls run in the house, frantic, screaming because somebody got out of a white pickup truck and chased them," said Stier.

When the girls ran home crying, their older sister went out to look for the strangers.

"Yes we did, we followed them all the way to [their] house," said the sister, who didn't want to be identified for safety reasons. "The Goodyear police told me not to, but I didn't feel like I should not, not follow him."

The sister said she and two others followed the three strangers to a home and waited for Goodyear police to arrive. When police got to the home, they arrested three people for stealing cars.

"This situation could have turned into, if he was trying to take my siblings, there was no way I was going to let him get away," said the sister.

So far, police haven't released any information on the suspects. They're facing possible charges for car theft but not for chasing the girls in the park.
